Adishi glacier hike

As you traverse this captivating path, seize the opportunity to explore the remote village of

Adishi. While numerous villages in Svaneti have undergone modernization over the years,

Adishi stands as a testament to the preservation, largely untouched by these changes. This is

primarily attributed to the recent discovery of this charming corner of Georgia by tourists,

shielding Adishi from extensive modern development. While numerous visitors are drawn to

the region to witness the impeccably maintained Svan towers, Adishi village also boasts the

presence of four hall-type churches:

•  The Church of the Savior, dating back to the 10th-11th century, houses paintings that

have endured since the 12th century.

•  Two St. George Churches from the 11th-12th century showcase captivating artwork

portraying various episodes from the lives of saints.

•  The Archangel Church, a structure dating back to the 13th century, is adorned with

ancient frescoes that add a rich layer of historical and artistic significance to this

religious site.

We will stay in Mestia and drive by 4x4 car to Adishi village. The road from Mestia to Adishi is

especially rough and winding, with the last part of the journey requiring a vehicle with a high

off-road capabilities.

This trail is seen as a bit tough, and it usually takes about 3 hours and 36 minutes to finish. A

lot of people like to hike here, but if you come during less busy times, you can still have

some peaceful moments all to yourself.
